Boulder
Laboratories:
Boulder
is renowned for science and technology and the Boulder Laboratories along
with NCAR are two major government supported centers. Boulder Laboratories
is home to NIST, NOAA and NTIA, and you can find out probably more than you
need or want to know, by visiting these websites,
http://boulder.nist.gov/,
http://boulder.noaa.gov/ and
www.its.bldrdoc.gov/. All of them
give public tours but the one we enjoy the most is NOAA at the new
David
Skaggs
Research
Center
where they concentrate on weather and climate related phenomena. The climax
to this tour is to see real recorded planetary events projected on to a
large sphere. It is fun for both adults and children. More about the tour is
on
http://boulder.noaa.gov/bldr_info.html. NCAR information can be found
at www.ncar.ucar.edu/.
